31 Jan 10 ... Weekly Update #39

This past weekend I raced at Motoland in Casa Grande, AZ. I have been riding the Kawasaki's now for a couple of weeks, and it was my first race on the new bikes. The past couple weeks in Arizona we have got a ton of rain, and most tracks have been flooded, but this weekend the track was awesome. It was a pretty muddy in practice, but the track got some awesome ruts and got pretty rough as well. Racing started out pretty good for me; I struggled a little on starts in the beginning, but was able to pass into the lead fast and then i just rode my own race and pulled away. I am getting more and more comfortable on the new bikes and there is still some things that I feel I can work on and get some more speed. I am looking forward to some more racing in the next couple weeks.

250 Intermediate - 1st place
Schoolboy - 1st place

10 November 2009 ...

Triple Crown round 2

This past weekend I raced at Milestone mx park for the second round of the 2009 Triple Crown. The track was in good shape for racing, but was a little one lined and hard to pass. 250 intermediate was the first  moto of the day, and I was ready to race. I got off to a descent start, and had to work my way through a few people to move into third place, which is where I finished at the end of the moto. My second moto was schoolboy in which I got off to a good start, but then got pushed wide in the first turn, and a bunch of people were able to pass me, I was abel to get back into second, and finish in that spot. During the second moto of intermediate, I had to work my way from the back again, and was able to get into second. My final moto of the day was schoolboy, I was able to get off to a pretty good start and was sitting in second. i was all over the back of the leader, and tried to make a pass, but was unable to. I was still able to get the overall with my constant motos. Overall the weekend was pretty good, but struggled on some starts. We're going to go back and work on it and get ready for the next race.

250 intermediate - 2nd overall
Schoolboy - 1st overall

1 November 2009 ... et motopark

We have been working hard training and riding a lot, trying to get ready for some upcoming nationals. This Saturday, I raced at ET motopark to try and get some more racing in. The track was pretty good, and was pretty fun. the day started off good in practice, and I felt pretty good. racing started off, and I got off to a second place start. I passed to get into the lead within the first couple straight aways. I was able to win the moto, and going into the second moto, wanted to make sure I got the holeshot. I got off to a good start, and got the holeshot. The next two motos, I repeated, and was able to get the holeshots, and both moto wins. Overall I did well, and was able to win all my motos.

Schoolboy - 1st overall
250 Int - 1st overall

19 October 2009 ...

2009 Triple Crown

Well, as winter gets closer, its time once again for the 3rd annual Triple Crown of Motocross. This past weekend was round number one of the three round series. The first round was held at Pala Raceway in Pala, CA. The track was pretty fun. It was super fast, and had some fun jumps, and good lines. It was the first time that I had been there, and  thought it was pretty good. The day started out pretty good in practice for me, then I went to the line for my first moto, which was 250 intermediate. I got hit going out of the gate, I was dead last going into the first turn I was able to pass quite a few people within  the first lap, and was able to work my way into second by the end of the moto. My next moto was schoolboy. I got off to a better start, and was in about fifth. I passed a few people again, and ended up second. The second moto of intermediate, I got off to a top five start, and was in third by the second lap. Everyone was pretty much the same speed, and I finished third in the moto which gave me second overall. The final moto of the day was schoolboy. I got off to the holeshot, but made a mistake a few turns later, and allowed one person to get by me. I stayed on him throughout the moto, but wasn't anything happen. I ended up second, and second overall.

250 Intermediate - 2nd place
Schoolboy - 2nd place

Perris Hot Summer Nights

This past weekend I went over to Perris, CA to race the perris hot summer nights. The track was pretty fun, and a lot different than the last time I was over there. The track didn't have as many jumps as usual, but was pretty fun. The night started out pretty good in practice. I felt good, and was ready for the race. In the first moto of intermediate I came up short on a big triple they built, and messed up my foot pretty bad. I don't know what's wrong with it yet, but I am hoping to still be ready to race dodge. I still rode the rest of my races with my sore foot, and just had to ice it and stuff in between motos. Overall the racing was good, the track was fun, and I did pretty good considering my foot felt like it was about to fall off.

250 Intermediate - 3rd overall
Schoolboy - 1st overall

Verde Valley Race

This past week I was in Cottonwood, Arizona at a track called Verde Valley. I spent the week with my trainer Justin Buckelew trying to get ready for the upcoming nationals. The week went good, we did a lot of riding and training. I felt really good on the bike, and I am looking forward to the upcoming summer nationals. The week went by nicely, and I decided to race Saturday night. The track was in good condition for the race, and I was looking forward to getting in the gate again. I rode really good all night; I was able to get every holeshot except for one, and was able to win every moto except for one. Overall the night went really well, and it was a good opportunity to get in the gate, and ride against a few fast kids.

Glen Helen

This past weekend we decided to head over for the Glen Helen and race amateur day. We arrived late Thursday night, and I went and looked at the track. It looked sweet, and I couldn't wait to ride on Friday. The day started off with practice, and the track was pretty muddy, and the ruts were already deep. My first moto of the day was the 125 Intermediate. I got off to a descent start, and rode okay, but was riding a little tight, and ended up fifth. My next moto was schoolboy. I got off to a great start, and grabbed the holeshot, and was able to pull away a little bit, and end up with the win. in my second moto of intermediate, I got off to a good start, and rode strong the whole moto, and was able to end up with a third. In the next moto of schoolboy, I again got the holeshot, and rode a good race the whole moto, and got another win. In the end the weekend was super fun staying and watching the pros on Saturday, and I was able to ride good as well, and ended up with some good results:

125 Intermediate - 2nd overall
Schoolboy  - 1st overall

This past week I went to the Loretta Lynn's area qualifiers at Competitive edge. I hadn't been to that track in a while, so I was excited to get to ride it. The track was completely different from the last time I was there, and they had some fun sections, including some woop sections. The track was in good shape in the mornings, and got really rough towards the end of the day.

On Saturday they ran the stock classes, which meant I would be racing one class (250 B stock). I got a bad start, and was working my way up through the pack in the first moto, and on the last lap crashed hard, and had to sit out the rest of the day.

On Sunday, I got up not even  knowing if I was going to ride. My arm was swollen and I could barley hold on the the grip, and pull in my clutch. I raced anyway, and did okay, besides the fact that after every moto my arm would be swollen, and I was getting arm pump super fast. In the end, I was able to do okay despite one crash in my first moto of 250 B mod, and qualified into the regional.

250 B Mod - 8th place
Schoolboy 1(12-15) - 2nd place
Schoolboy 2(14-16) - 5th place
This past week I raced the CMC cooperstate at Arizona Cycle Park. The track was changed from the last time I had been there, and it was pretty fun. They had a new woop section, and some new changes. Overall, the layout was pretty neat, and made for some fun races. The racing was fun, and there were some fast guys that showed up to race including Landon Currier. I had fun racing, and am looking forward to the Lake Whitney Spring Classic, which is coming up.  Overall, the weekend was fun, and I did pretty well.

This past weekend I raced at Glen Helen Raceway for the final round of the CMC Trans cal. The race was both Saturday and Sunday. The track was super fun, as we got to run a lot of the tack including going all the way up Mt. St. Helen.  On Saturday, I was riding good, and ended up doing well in Schoolboy. In the first moto of intermediate, I cashed while running second, and in the second moto, I got a flat tire while in the lead. On Sunday, I got a good start in my first intermediate moto, but someone crashed in front of me, and I went down with them. I was able to do well in the second moto, but my overall result wasn’t that great. In schoolboy, I was able to ride good, and overall I did pretty well. I am pretty happy with my results, and I am looking forward to going home, and training to try and get ready for the upcoming nationals.
Saturday:
Schoolboy – 1st place
125 Intermediate – 3rd place

Sunday:

This past week was pretty fun, I spent the week riding and training; trying to get ready for the upcoming amateur nationals. I spent the weekend at ET Motopark racing round one of the Arizona State Championship. The track was awesome. We got a ton of rain early in the week, and the track was able to get some sick ruts, and was super fun. The race was a fun time, and I did good overall as well.

This past week was pretty fun, I spent the week riding with Justin Buckelew; trying to get ready for the upcoming amateur nationals. One the weekend I went out and raced at Firebird mx park for a local race. The race was on Sunday, and it rained all day and all night Saturday. We got to the track thinking it was going to be a mud fest. In practice the track was a little muddy, but then the rain hit again; it ended up raining a couple times early in the day, but by the second motos, the rain had passed, and the track was in great condition. There ended up being some sweet ruts, and the track was awesome. Overall the race ended up being super fun, and my results were good as well.

This past week was not the greatest week for me. I rode a little during the week, then went to race Glen Helen on the weekend. We started off the weekend by practicing on Saturday. Everything was going good, and I felt pretty fast until my race bike blew up. We then had to race my practice bike on Sunday. I went up for my first moto which was schoolboy, and ended up getting a 27th gate pick, but they were running the track backwards, so the fist turn was super tight, and I got pushed to the outside. I got about a 15th place start, worked my way up to 5th, then crashed on the last lap. The next moto up was Intermediate This time I got a 35th gate pick, and again got a horrible start, and ended up finishing 8th. I was going up to line line for my second moto of schoolboy, just going to try and get a good start, and run up font. I got a decent start (about 10th), I worked my way past a couple of kids, and was trying to pass another kid down the downhill, and went flying over the bars, and went down hard. After the crash, my bike was all messed up, and I was really sore, so I decided it would be best just to call it a day. Overall I felt my speed was good all weekend, but couldn't put the whole thing together for a good result.

This weekend was awesome. I spent it riding out at Arizona Cycle Park. I trained with my trainer Justin Buckelew on Saturday. On Sunday I raced the first round of the CMC Copperstate. The track was good on Sunday. We had a little rain early in the morning but it made the track really good. The track stayed moist all day, and got some pretty good lines, and got rough which was super fun. I rode good all weekend, and felt fast thanks to all of Justin’s help. At the end of the weekend, I had fun, and felt great on the bike, and I came away with good results.

Schoolboy – 1st place

Thanks for checking out another weekly update. This past week was pretty normal during the weekdays. They were spent riding and training, getting ready for the weekend. This weekend I raced at Perris Raceway in Perris, CA for the final round of the California Triple Crown. We got there Saturday, and got a little practice in before racing started on Sunday. The track was good, and it was pretty fun. Sunday came around, and I was feeling pretty good. I was fairly good, but couldn’t put a start together. I had to come from way back in the back in almost every moto, and my results for the day were not a good as I was expecting, but overall for the Triple Crown I ended up doing fairly well.

This weekend we attended the second round of the California Triple Crown which took place at Glen Helen raceway. The track this time was ran backwards rather than the usual direction. I thought the track was okay, but personally I like the regular direction of the track better. The racing was good, and there were quite a few people there. I was riding decent all weekend, but was just a little off pace all day. The track got pretty rough like it normally does, and by the end of the day, some sections of the track were super sketchy. Overall I rode alright, and it was a fairly good weekend, except for the second moto in the intermediate class in which I got a flat tire. The weekend was fun, and I ended up with descent results.

125 Intermediate – 4th place

Schoolboy – 3rd place

This past weekend I raced at Milestone in Riverside, CA for the first round of the California Triple Crown. The race was fun, and there was a lot of people that showed up. It was my first time riding that track, and it was super fun. the track had a good layout, and made for good racing. Towards the end of the day, the track was rough and dusty, but overall the track stayed good most of the day. Overall the weekend was fairly good, and I had fun, and my results were descent.

This weekend I raced at Speedworld motocross track on Saturday night. The race was pretty good, and the track was alright. They made the track really short so that they could get done earlier. The shorter track made it super one lined, and hard to pass on, but other than that, the track was fun. Overall the weekend was just another time to get in the gate, and have fun. In the end, my results were pretty good as well.

This past weekend I raced out at ET motopark in Arizona . We went for a Saturday night race, and the track was fairly good. The racing was pretty good, and the track was decent. In both of the Novice motos, I got the holeshot, and pulled away for the win. In the first Schoolboy moto, I got a horrible start. I passed my way into third by the second lap. By the next lap, I worked my way into second and was catching the leader. I caught up, and was all over the leader until I tried to go outside of the rut in a corner to make a pass, and slid off the track, and hit a hay bail. I got back on the track only to have the third place guy all over me again. I pulled away from him, and ended up getting second in the first moto. In the second moto, I got a second place start, and quickly passed for first. I pulled away and ended up winning the second schoolboy moto. In the big bike open race, I got a third place start both motos and quickly passed for second and then first.

This past weekend I raced in Palmdale , CA for the first round of the California Gold Cup at LACR. The track was really good and really fast. Toward the end of the day, the track got really rough from all the sand, they had a lot of long straights that got pretty rough by the end of the day. I rode pretty good, and got one holeshot. I was happy with the way I rode, and I can’t wait to go to the next round of the series. Overall it was a good weekend, and my results were pretty good:

This past weekend I was out at Perris Raceway for the second round of the California Gold Cup. Saturday practice was going good at first, but then in my third practice, I caught my foot in a rut, and yanked it backwards. I felt something in my leg tear, so we packed up and came home early. I later found out that I partly tore a muscle in my leg, and it ripped a piece of the bone off of my hip. We don't know yet how long the healing process is going to be, but we will be out of Oak Hill and most likely World Mini as well.

This past weekend we went to Perris for the second round of the California Gold Cup. Saturday practice went good, and the track was good, but a little muddy from the rain that they got earlier in the week. It rained all night Saturday, and flooded out parts of the track, so the Sunday race was canceled. Overall the track was fun on Saturday, but it sucks that they had to cancel the race for Sunday, and now have to reschedule.

It was a little muddy during practice, but after they took the tractor our there again to fix the muddy sections, the track was great. The weekend was good, and overall, I came away with some good results during the race, and overall in the series.

23 Oct 07. This past weekend I raced the first round of the second annual Triple Crown. The race took place at Racetown 395 in California . The track was in good shape, and it was pretty fun to race on. It was super windy on Saturday, and was supposed to be the same for Sunday, but the wind didn’t reach the track, and the racing was good.

The track was great on Sunday morning, but towards the end of the day it got really dry. Then when they would water it, it would be really slippery, but they did a good job of making the track fun to race on. Overall we had a good weekend, and it was fun.

In the novice class, I did alright and got third the first moto. In the second moto I was running second trying to make the pass for the lead, but I fell over in a corner and didn't end up so well. Overall I got 4th in the novice.

In the schoolboy class, I got a fourth the first moto. In the second moto, I was again in first but moved up to third. Overall I ended up with a 3rd place finish in that class.

125 Novice: 5th place

On Sunday we raced the Trans Cal series at competitive edge. They have changed the track around since I have last been there, and I was excited to ride a new track. It was really fast and wide open, but still got a little rough, and was fun to ride. I felt good, and won the first moto of novice, and got third in schoolboy first moto. Then things didn’t go my way.

I ended up sliding out in a corner in the novice class, and getting up to finish about 12th. I then went out for schoolboy and was running 2nd when I landed off the track on a dirt bank. I went over the bars and tweaked my bike and couldn’t go anywhere. I ended up with a DNF in that moto. Overall I was happy with my first moto results, but was disappointed with my second motos.
