Mammoth motocross is always a fun and exciting race to go to and this year was no exception. Although my results were not the greatest there's something about just being on the mountain that sets off a great vibe for racing. The weekend started off pretty good for me and I was feeling comfortable in practice. Friday rolled around and I was ready to race the schoolboy class. The qualifier moto didn't go the greatest for me as I had a crash on the first lap and was deep in the back of the pack. I managed to come back up to eighth which was enough to qualify but left me with a bad gate pick for the main. In the main I got a pretty good start and felt good until the red flagged the race and we had to restart. The second start was not as good for me and I got a horrible start. I never quite got going like I did the first start and ended up 8th overall. After a disappointing performance I was looking forward to Saturday and the intermediate class. The qualifier for the intermediate race went pretty good. I rode awesome but again struggled with a bad start. I was able to get fourth in the qualifier and get a good ate pick. Going into the main I was focused on trying to get a good start knowing that I had the speed to run up front. I got an okay start but I was going to take it considering the other starts I had the rest of the weekend. I felt good and was riding solid in about sixth until I had a little mistake and tipped over in a corner I was able to get going but lost a ton of spots and was in about 20th. I was able to keep pushing until the motos end and ended up catching up to 10th. Overall I was a little disappointed about my end results but I felt good about my fitness and I just need to work on starts and a little more speed before Ponca and Lorettas.

This past weekend I raced at Thunder Valley in Lakewood, CO for an area Loretta qualifier. Friday practice started out good and I was having fun on the track. Saturday was the stock classes and I was looking forward to racing. I rode pretty good on Saturday but struggled with my starts, but still rode good. As Sunday came around, I was looking forward to redemption from Saturday. I got off to much better starts on Sunday and rode well. Overall the weekend was awesome and I qualified for both the south central and south west regions.

39th Annual World Mini Grand Prix
This  past week was the 39th annual world mini grand prix at Mesquite Mx Park in Mesquite, NV. This was the first year for the race being at this track. The track was pretty goo throughout the week. The track got really rutted and rough  which made for some awesome racing. The first few days of racing consisted of qualifiers. During my qualifiers I had some bad luck and had some crashes which put me back in the pack and fighting my way through the back of the pack in order to get goo qualifying positions. I ended up qualifying with descent positions and made all the mains which is the first goal. Going into the mains I was feeling confident and ready to race. There was only 8 mains, and  I was in 4 of them which left me with back to back motos. I was bale to get off to good starts in all the main events and rode good except for the last moto where I was struggled a little bit, but still managed a descent finish. Overall it was a good week of racing an my results were good.

250 stock intermediate - 4th place
250 mod intermediate - 4th place
250 four stroke open non-pro - 5th place
250 schoolboy 12-16 - 7th place

Amateur Open 2009

I spent this past week at the Arizona Cycle Park for the 6th annual Amateur Open of Motocross. The first two days of the event were spent practicing, and starting some of the race action. Practice went early good, and my speed was good. When racing started, I was ready to go, and couldn't wait. My first moto, i didn't get the greatest start, but was able to take the win. The next day of racing went really well, as I grabbed every holeshot, and won all four of my motos. Day three which was Friday, I was able to grab all holeshots again, but made one mistake in one of my motos which cost me the win in that first moto. Saturday was the day they started crowning champions, and I was ready to race. In the 250 Intermediate stock class, I was going in with a one, but unfortunately fell twice in the final moto, and had to settle for a third overall. I was bummed out about that moto, and set my sights on a win. All of my other four classes, I was able to get great starts, and came away with every win. Overall the week went great, and in the end I was able to win four out of five championships at the 2009 Amateur Open. Not too bad.

250 Mod Intermediate - 1st overall
250 stock Intermediate - 3rd overall
Schoolboy 12-17 stock - 1st overall
Schoolboy 12-17 mod - 1st overall
Mid size open non-pro - 1st overall

3 October 2009 ... Dodge Amateur National

The past week I spent up in Sacramento, CA for the dodge amateur national. We arrived Saturday night, and got to look at the track on Sunday. It looked awesome, and I couldn't wait to ride on Monday. Practice went great, and I had some fast lap times. I was feeling good on the track, and was looking forward to the start of racing. Racing started out good. I qualified into all of my mains, and didn't have a moto where I finished outside of the top five. My first main event was the 250 intermediate stock. I got a descent jump out of the gate, and then got taken out, and was in a first turn pile up. I wasn't able to finish the moto, and just went back to get ready for my other races. My final moto was schoolboy stock. I got off to a top five start, and worked my way into second within the first couple laps. I finished in second for second overall. My schoolboy mod moto was fist thing on Saturday morning. I got off to an okay start, and was able to get into fifth, and that's where I finished to get fourth overall. My second moto that day was the 125 two-stroke intermediate moto. I was going into the third and final moto with a 1-1 moto score. I got off to a third place start, and got into second. I just rode smart, and stayed in second for the championship. The final moto of the week was 250 stock intermediate. I got off to a descent start, and hit a couple people in the first turn. I worked my way past a couple people, and was in fifth. I was catching the people in front of me, and about half way through the moto, my radiator guard fell down and my radiator was bent from the first turn hit, The radiator guard was catching on my front fender, and my front tire wouldn't turn. I still stayed in fifth, and got fourth overall. Overall, the race was good, and I came away with one championship.

9 August 09 ... Loretta Lynn's 2009

Well, we just finished up racing from the 2009 Loretta Lynn Amateur National championships. This year was a good experience all the way from the qualifiers, and up through the race week. The week started off for us driving into the muddy parking lot, and getting pulled in by a tractor. By seeing all the standing water on the ground, I thought the track was going to be in horrible condition, but much to my surprise, the track was awesome. They made a bunch of changes from the previous years, and I thought the track was pretty fun. It was much more technical, and made for many more passing opportunities throughout the race track.

The week started out for me with my first moto of Schoolboy 1. I got off to a descent start, and made a few passes throughout the race, and ended up in 9th. The second moto, I got a good start, and was up in the top five. I rode there for over half the moto, until falling, and getting passed by a bunch of people, and ended the race in 11th. Going into the third and final moto, I was feeling pretty good, and wanted to go and ride strong throughout the moto. I didn't get off to the greatest start, and worked my way through the pack, and moved into 14th by the motos end. overall, I wasn't too disappointed with my riding, just my starts, and made too many mistakes, but its all part of racing, and I came out with an 11th overall.

My second class for the week was Schoolboy 2. My fist moto was a muddy one, as we were third moto after the only night they received rain. I had a bad gate pick, and was way outside. I got off to a descent start, and ended up falling on the start, which put me in almost dead last to start the moto. I was working my way up, and fell a few more times in the mud before the moto was over, and ended up in 25th. In the second moto, I got off to a much better start, and was riding well, before stalling my bike. It took me a little while to get my bike started, and I crossed the finish line in 17th. I went into the final moto with nothing to lose, and just rode my race. I got off to a bad start, but rode well, and came from well outside the top 25 to get into 14th, and I ended up with a 16th overall.

Loretta's was super fun, and I learned a lot, and we just need to go back and work on some things and keep improving for next season.

I can't thank everyone enough for their support throughout the last season including: Buckelew Motocross Training, Suzuki, Fly Racing, Action Motorsports, ZR1 suspension, Renthal, No Toil, Rocket Exhaust, and 488 Web Design.

Thanks,

3 August 09 ... Ponca City Racing Wrap Up

The last few days of racing went good. I only ran 3 of my mains at Ponca due to Loretta's being one day after. Overall I rode pretty strong, and was able to walk away with a 10th in 250 four stroke open non-pro, a 8th in 250 intermediate stock, and a 5th in 125 two-stroke.

30 July 09 ... Ponca City Racing day 2

Today was the second day of racing here at Ponca City. I started off the day with 2 mod intermediate. I got off to an okay start and was riding okay the first couple laps, then fell in a corner, and fell way to the back of the pack. I rode good throughout the moto and was able to come back and got up into tenth. My second moto was near the end of the day, and was 125 two-stroke non-pro. I got off to a decent start, and was able to pass a few people, and move into third. I rode well throughout the moto, and stayed in third place for the moto finish.

The first couple days of racing have been pretty well, and I look forward to getting some more good results throughout the week.

29 July 09 ... Ponca City Racing day 1

Today was the first day of racing here at Ponca City. I started off the day with my first moto which was 250 stock intermediate. I got a descent start, and rode strong throughout the whole moto to end up fifth. My second moto was 250 four stroke open non-pro. I got off to an okay start, and had to pass a few people and ended up fourth. My third and final moto of the day was schoolboy. I got off to a pretty good start, and passed a couple people to move into fourth. I rode well throughout the moto and ended up with another fourth for the day. Overall the first day of racing went well. I rode strong, and was able to get some good results. Check back for some more updates throughout the week

28 July 09 ... Ponca City Practice

Today was the first day of riding here at Ponca City, Oklahoma. Practice started today with the 125 two stroke non-pro practice. The track was a little muddy to begin with, but ended up getting some good lines for the end of the day. My next practice was 250 four stroke open, and then intermediate followed by schoolboy. Overall it was a great day of practice. The track is pretty fun, and should make for some great race action throughout the week.

This past week I was in Mammoth Lakes, CA for the 2009 mammoth motocross. We arrived a little early to watch some mini racing. On Thursday, practice for big bikes started. Practice went good , and the track was pretty fun. I was feeling good I practice, and was looking forward to racing. Friday was the first day of racing for big bikes, and I was racing the schoolboy class. In the first moto, I got off to a descent start, and ended up fifth, which got me into the main event. During the main even, I got off to a top ten start, and was in sixth going into the second lap. i slid out in a corner, and couldn't get my bike started until a flagger helped me push start it. By this time, I was well in last place, and had a lot of catching up to do. I rode fairly well, and was able to catch up to about 20th.

Coming into Saturday, I was really wanting to do well. I got off to a good start in the qualifier, and qualified in sixth going into the main event. I went into the main event, and got off to a pretty good start. I was in about 7th, after a couple laps, and was trying to make a pass when my rear brakes went out. I tried to continue riding, but wasn't able to keep up the pace, and DNF'd the moto.

Unfortunately, this past week didn't go as well as I hoped, but that's all part of racing. I just look forward to the next race to do better.

22 Jun 09 ... South Central Youth Regional

The past couple of weeks have been super busy. I have been training for the upcoming amateur nationals, and getting our qualifying finished for Loretta Lynn’s. The past week I spent a few days in Albuquerque, New Mexico riding and training with Justin Buckelew getting ready for upcoming races. New Mexico was awesome, and a super fun place to ride. I can’t thank Justin and his family enough for all their help.

After a few days in New Mexico, we headed to Lake Whitney, Texas for the south central youth regional to qualify for Loretta’s. The weekend in Texas was good. The weather was super hot and humid, but it was good. The track was in decent shape, but got super dry, and a little slick. My first moto of the weekend was Schoolboy 2. I got off to a third place start, and made a few passes and got into the lead, but then got passed by one kid, and ended up second. In the second moto, I didn’t get the greatest start, but worked my way through the pack, and again got a second place finish. In the third and final moto, I got off to a top five start, and passed a few kids, and swapped positions with a couple people. In the end I ended up fourth that moto. Overall the weekend was good, and we made it into Loretta’s in our second class.

Schoolboy 2 – (2,2,4) – 2nd overall

6 Jun 09 ... Southwest Loretta Lynns Qualifier

This past weekend was the Loretta Lynns southwest regional qualifier at Glen Helen raceway. The weekend started out with practice on Thursday and Friday. The track was fun, and I couldn't wait for the weekend's race. Saturday was the stock classes, and I had one race: 250 B stock. The first moto started out descent, and I ended up with an eighth, but since they ran a three moto format, I was okay. The next two motos were okay, but I struggled with starts a little, and rode tight. Overall  I ended up 10th, and they only take 5 to Lorettas.
On Sunday, we ran schoolboy 1, and schoolboy 2. The first moto was schoolboy 1 which is on a 125 two stroke. I got off to a top 5 start, and was able to make some good passes on the first couple laps, and got into the lead, and won the first moto. The next moto was schoolboy 2 on my four stroke. I got off to a 6th place start, and made a couple mistakes, and slipped back to 7. The next two motos of schoolboy 1 went great, and was able to come away with the overall.  In schoolboy 2, I was able to get a fifth in moto 2, and a 6th in moto 3, and missed qualifying by one spot, and ended up 6th overall.
Overall it was a good weekend. I was happy with my riding, and cant wait for the next race.

This past week was spent at the Amateur Open of Motocross in Buckeye, AZ. The week started out good, we arrived at the track, and it was looking really good. They added a bunch of mulch, and also added a new hill section. We practiced on Wednesday and I was feeling really good on the track. We worked on a few final touches on our bikes, and by Thursday, I was ready to race. Thursday went pretty good, I ran my first moto which was intermediate stock. I felt good going in to my first moto, but had some bad starts the first part of the week. I rode pretty good and ended up fourth. The next day I ran four motos. In schoolboy stock, I crashed hard in the second turn, was unable to finish the race. I ran 250 four stroke open non pro next, and was able to come out with a fourth place finish, as well as a fourth place finish in both intermediate mod, and schoolboy mod. By Friday, I was hoping to get some better starts, and get myself on the podium. I was able to get much better starts, and came away with a couple second place finishes, and also a fourth place finish in my second motos. I was going into the mains setting good in all my classes except schoolboy stock. On Saturday and Sunday, I was able to put some good motos in, and get myself some goo d overall finishes.

Mid-size stock intermediate – 5th overall

Schoolboy mod – 5th overall

Schoolboy stock – 9th overall

250 four stroke open non pro – 4th overall

This past week I raced in Sacramento, CA for the Dodge Amateur National at Hangtown Motocross Park. The track was super fun this year, and made for good racing. They changed it up from last year, and added a couple of new sections that were a lot better than the previous years.  During practice, the track got super rough. They added some type of sawdust, and it wasn’t mixed into the dirt yet, and made the track super rough. The next couple of days, they ripped the sawdust and got in mixed into the dirt, and the track got better and better as the week went on. For me the week started off okay during practice. After my first couple of motos I was feeling good, and was riding great. The only thing was that I had horrible starts and had to come from behind. I qualified good going into the mains, but had some bad luck in the mains, and a few crashes that cost me better finishes.

125 2 Stroke Intermediate – 4th overall

125 Intermediate Stock – moto finishes (6,8,DNF)

125 Intermediate Mod – 12th overall

Schoolboy mod – moto finishes (4,5,DNF)

Schoolboy Stock – 10th overall

This past week I raced at Loretta Lynn’s in Hurricane Mills, TN. This year, they changed up the track, and added a couple new sections. Overall the changes were super fun, and I had a good time racing. The week started out good, as we went practicing at some local tracks a couple days before the race week. Come race day, I couldn’t wait to ride, but as soon as I got on the line, I got tight, and wasn’t riding the best that I could. I was making mistakes all over the track, and wasn’t smooth. That was the story for the first round of motos, but towards the end of the week, I finally started riding loose, and was riding good, but had to work from the back because of bad starts. In the end I ended up 24th in schoolboy 2, and 28th in schoolboy 1. Overall, the week didn’t go near as good as planned, but I’m happy I was able to make it there, and race in one of the most prestigious amateur nationals.

30 June 08

This past weekend I raced at the Mammoth Motocross National. The track was fun, and I had never been there before. I rode fairly well, and ended up finishing okay. The race was a super fun race, and I had fun riding on the mammoth mountain motocross track. The track was different than usual nationals, and was mostly berms and not too many ruts. The track got super rough, and was really fun to race on. Overall I did fairly well, and can’t wait until Ponca and Loretta’s.

250 Junior – 4th place

This past weekend I went to Texas for the south central youth regional at Freestone County Raceway. We drove up Wednesday and trained with Shanon Niday on Thursday. They then held open practice on Friday, and racing on Saturday and Sunday. The track was good, and was the same as the national that was held there the weekend before. The track started out good in the beginning of the day, and got super dry and slick by the end of the day. I rode pretty decent, but made a few mistakes in a couple of my motos that cost me a couple of positions. Overall my results were okay, but all I can do is come back home, train, and get ready for Mammoth.

Schoolboy 2 (14-16) – Moto 1 – 9th / Moto 2 – 10th / Moto 3 – 7th / Overall – 9th place

This past weekend I raced at Glen Helen Raceway for the Loretta Lynn southwest regional qualifier. The track was super fun, and had the same design as it did for the pro national that was held there a couple of weeks ago. I raced the schoolboy 1 class on my 125 two-stroke and the schoolboy 2 class on my 250f. The racing was good, and they used a three moto format which made for tight overall finishes.

Schoolboy 1 (12-16) – Moto 1 – 6th / Moto 2 – 4th / Moto 3 – 7th / Overall – 5th

Schoolboy 2 (14-16) – Moto 1 – 10th / Moto 2 – 13th / Moto 3 – 5th / Overall 7th

I rode good in most of my motos, but had a couple of mistakes that cost me better finishes. Overall the track was fun to ride, and it was a good weekend. I was able to qualify in schoolboy 1 because top 5 were qualifying positions.

This past weekend I raced in Colorado for the Loretta Lynn area qualifiers at Thunder Valley. The track was good, and there was a ton of people that showed up for the race. On Saturday, it was super cold, and we even got a couple of snow flurries. On Sunday, the temperature was a bit warmer, and the track was good. Before practice, the track was super muddy, but by the end of the day, the track had huge ruts in it, and was one of the roughest tracks I have ever rode on. My races were okay, but we qualified for the south central regional, and that's what we went to do. Overall It was a fun weekend, and my results were okay.

Schoolboy 1 (12-16) - 2nd place
Schoolboy 2 (14-16) - 7th place

This past weekend we went to Boulder City for the Loretta Lynn area qualifiers. The area was super windy, and made for a dry and dusty track. I raced the schoolboy 1 12-16 class in a 125 two stroke, and the schoolboy 2 14-16 class on a 250F. Overall the track was fun despite the wind and the dust, and my results were good.

WORLD MINI GRAND PRIX 2008

14-20 April 2008

250 Mod Novice: 3rd overall

22 Apr 08

We have just finished up with the World Minis in Las Vegas. The week overall was okay, but not as good as I would've liked. We qualified in good for both the stock novice, and mod novice. Going into the main, I had a chance to win both classes. In the stock class, I got into a first turn crash which put me out of the race. I went back to race the mod class, and was feeling okay. I came off the gate and didn't get the greatest start. I made a few passes, and by two laps to go I made my way into third. I stayed there, and went 1-3 for 3rd overall. Overall I'm not completely excited with my results, but the week was fairly good.

Today was the first day of racing at the world minis. The track has been pretty good, but it is super windy. The changed the track up a little bit, and overall it's pretty fun.

Today I raced the 250 stock novice. I was race 3, and the track was good. I got off to a good start, and was in second. Within the first couple of laps I made the pass for first and stayed there until the end of the race. So far the races have been good, and we're having a good time.

AMATEUR OPEN OF MOTOCROSS 2005-2007

DODGE AMATEUR MOTOCROSS NATIONAL 2007

5th Annual 2007 DODGE Amateur Motocross National, Oct 07  We have finished up with the 5th annual Dodge Amateur National in Sacramento.  Overall I had a good week, and I am pretty happy with my results. In the 250 Stock novice class, I was in first in my division. I then went out for the main and got the holeshot. I never looked back, and took the win, but do to the points system that the Dodge runs, I ended up with second place. In the 250 mod novice class, I qualified fourth in my division do to a bad second moto. I had an alright start and was inside the top ten. I was able to work my way up to second in the moto, and I also ended up second overall in that class as well. On the last lap of the mod class, I cased a jump and bounced into a braking bump. My hand had hit the bars hard, and it was sore, and hurt to pull in the clutch. We decided that the week had been good so far, and we ended up not running the schoolboy stock main. This past week has been good, and I appreciate all your support.

PONCA CITY GRAND NATIONAL 2004-2007

Ponca City Grand National, Jul 2007 We are getting home from Ponca, but I didn't do to well there. I qualified okay, but in the mains, I had horrible starts, and just wasn't riding the greatest. I ended up getting about 20th place in my mains, which is horrible considering how well I qualified in some of my classes.

Hopefully we can start training, and come Amateur Open we will be 100%.
Friday

Today I raced in my mod and supermini classes. I crashed going up the face of a double in the mod, and ended up getting a 13th, and qualified in with a 8. In the supermini, I got a horrible start, and ended up getting 5th in that moto.  Tomorrow I race the run-offs, and hopefully I can get a trophy.

Today I had two motos to race. My first moto was the 85 open class. I got an okay jump off of the gate, but then got pinched on the start and didn't get the greatest start, but I was in the top 15. I worked my way past a couple of kids, and ended up 7th.

My second moto was the 85 12-13 stock class. I again got pinched on the start but was up a little further in the pack. I passed a couple of kids and ended up 7th again. I know that if I get a better start I can run up there and get a little better position.

13th Annual AMA Parts Unlimited Spring Classic, Lake Whitney MX, Whitney, TX.

March 2007

85cc 12-13 stock 85 I qualified with an 11th, by getting passed on the last lap, which wasn't enough to make the main, and I missed it by one position. I went to the LCQ and got a second and made it to the main. In the main I got stuck on the outside of the gate. I got pushed off the track in the start and I had to catch up. I passed some people and I got about 26th place.

85cc 12-13 mod 85 I qualified again with an 11th by again getting passed on the last lap. It wasn't enough again to make the main by one position. I went to the LCQ and I got 1st and made it to the main. In the main I got on the outside again. I didn't do well in the main and crashed, I worked my way up to about 22nd place.

105cc Supermini  I qualified in the first division with a 9th and made it to the main and didn't have to go to the LCQ. I went to the main and crashed in the first turn and was second to last. I got up and caught up to 28th place.

March 7th: The track was in great shape, and the temperature was great. They kept the track in great condition, and it made for some great racing. Everyone was anxious to ride, and couldn’t wait to ride the first national of the year.

Today I raced Supermini; overall I didn’t do so well. I got off to an okay start in 8th, I then fell twice on the second lap. I qualified in with a 12th, but that’s not going to help us for the main

March 8th: The weather was once again great, and it even got a little hot today. The track was smooth, and they groomed it a lot for some reason. The track has been great so far, and hopefully it keeps getting better.

Today I raced in 85 12-13 stock. I had a horrible gate pick, and ended up way outside. I got pushed way outside, and ended up in the back of the pack. I worked my way up and was sitting 9th, then fell on the last lap, and ended up qualifying with a 13th. So far things haven’t been going our way, but it’s not over.

March 9th:  Today I raced the 85 12-13 mod class. I had again bad starts, and had to work my way through the pack. I ended up working up there and not crashing like the other motos, and ended up qualifying in with a 6th.

March 10th:  Today I raced the Supermini and stock mains. In the Supermini main, I ended up having to start from the way out side, and got a horrible start, and ended up 20th in the race which gave me a 22nd overall. In the stock class, I had an okay gate pick, and went off the gate okay, but got caught in a second turn crash, and was in the back of the pack. I ended up getting 19h in that moto, which gave me a 20th overall.

March 11th:  Today I raced the mod main. I was going in with a god number, so I had a good gate pick. I had a bad start, and worked up to about 13th. A couple of kids then passed me, and I ended up with a 15th which gave me 12th overall.
